On March 22, COA made the decision to suspend operations. The choice was made in accordance with ongoing health and safety recommendations and restrictions, for travelers and locals. Like most small Charleston businesses, COA relies almost exclusively on tourism and is suffering greatly during this time.
Recently celebrating the start of COA’s 10th season in business, this pandemic and resulting closure is particularly disheartening. Owner Joe Lotts has spent the past decade working tirelessly to make Charleston Outdoor Adventures the Lowcountry’s leading eco tour provider. While acknowledging the great work and reputation of the city’s other outdoor activity providers, we are proudly ranked by Trip Advisor as Charleston’s #1 outdoor tour company out of over 300 others.
We thank each and every customer who has taken the time to share a review, whichever the platform. Your words bring us fulfillment and make us stand out among the rest. As reflected in our reviews, COA’s reputation would be nothing with our dedicated staff– their passion, energy, and the wealth of information they share day after hot summer day.
With a wave of spring cancellations, we are in great need of support. While we recognize that this is a trying time for everyone- emotionally and financially- we humbly ask for any contributions to help ensure we can return to business as usual. If able, please consider helping in the following ways:
- Purchase a gift card. Gift certificates can be purchased electronically for any value towards any activity and will never expire.
- Make a reservation. We plan to continue offering small group eco tours (boat and kayak tours) and rentals again as soon possible. Reservations can be made online and our schedule is posted through the end of 2020 (Click “check availability” in the top right corner). Even if you are unsure of your schedule, future bookings can be amended or rescheduled at any time.
- Support our staff. Please consider supporting our team of AMAZING tour guides, who get by on reservations and gratuity. Venmo handles below: Cade Kaufmann @Cade-Kaufmann, Josh Butler @wulter, Captain Tripp Copeland @Tripp-Copeland, Captain Josh Coleman @chsnomad, Captain Joey Ammirato @Joseph-Ammirato, Brice Maruna @bricemaruna, Casten Farr @Casten-Farr, Reese ickEll @Reese-PickEll, Alex Goldstein @avgoldstein
- Share this. Share this post via email or social media. Get the word out to friends and family. Make plans to spend time outside in the coming months. The more people who purchase gift cards and make future reservations the better.
We appreciate your time and support and look forward to seeing you on the other side.
All our best,
The COA team
